With product code T64-094-78RP04, Tarmac Works offers an extraordinary 1:64 scale reproduction of the legendary Fiat 131 Abarth, overall winner at the 1978 Rallye de Portugal with the unforgettable official factory livery entrusted to the Finnish crew formed by Markku Alén and Ilkka Kivimäki. This historic success represented one of the most significant and exciting achievements of the entire season, consecrating Alén to win the FIA Drivers' Cup and providing a fundamental contribution to the Constructors' World Title won by Fiat. The 131 Abarth prevailed thanks to its extraordinary robustness, balance, and mechanical reliability on the difficult and grueling Portuguese special stages.
The Fiat 131 Abarth Rally, presented in 1976 to obtain homologation in the highest category of Group 4, was actually equipped with an aspirated 2.0-liter 16-valve in-line four-cylinder twin-cam engine developed by the Abarth workshops, capable of delivering a good 230 HP in the official mechanical injection racing configuration. The pure rear-wheel drive, reduced overall weight, and a carefully evolved chassis with widened wheel arches and aerodynamic appendages allowed the Turin sedan to win three Constructors' World titles, effectively becoming one of the immortal icons of the golden age of world rallies.
This die-cast replica from Tarmac Works precisely reproduces the famous and beautiful Alitalia livery used in the 1978 World Championship, maintaining perfect proportions despite the ultra-compact dimensions of the 1:64 scale. The tricolor race graphics, the logos of the sponsors of the time, the supplementary night headlights on the front hood, and the characteristic racing wheels are reproduced with extraordinary clarity. Supplied in an elegant collector's packaging complete with a transparent plexiglass protective case base, this model represents a historical value piece for all collectors dedicated to 1970s motorsport and the queens of Italian Group 4.
