The McLaren MP4/9 tackled the 1994 Formula 1 season adopting the unprecedented French Peugeot engine after the transition from Ford engines. The single-seater is fitted with the 3.5-liter Peugeot A6 V10 engine capable of producing around 700 horsepower at 14,200 revolutions per minute, a powerful unit but plagued by recurring reliability problems related to thermal overheating. Designed by Neil Oatley, the car introduced a lower nose compared to the competition and a sleek bodywork, designed to maximize aerodynamic efficiency following the total ban on active suspensions and electronic driving aids imposed by the FIA for that championship.
The 1:43 scale static replica made by Minichamps faithfully reproduces the number 8 car driven by British driver Martin Brundle. The die-cast model features the team's classic white and orange two-tone livery with the official sponsor logos printed in high definition. The metal mold accurately reproduces the vertical vanes of the rear wing and the complex flow deflectors positioned in front of the side pods.
