The McLaren Ford M23 made its absolute debut in the 1973 Formula 1 championship, laying the foundations for the British team's future successes. Designed by Gordon Coppuck, inspired by the wedge-shaped lines of the famous Lotus 72, the single-seater introduced water radiators mounted inside the sidepods instead of on the front nose. Driven by the expert American driver Peter Revson (winner of the British and Canadian Grands Prix that season), the car utilized the Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine coupled with the Hewland manual gearbox, a combination that guaranteed excellent structural robustness on every type of track.
This 1:43 scale collector's model produced by Minichamps reproduces the debut version of the car marked with race number 8. The die-cast body highlights the elongated shape of the flat nose and the sidepods without the complex aerodynamic appendages that will characterize the versions of subsequent years. The white and orange finish (the brand's historic founding color) is carefully applied and protects the sponsor graphics of the era.
