La Ford Mustang Dark Horse rappresenta la variante stradale ad alte prestazioni basata sulla settima generazione (S650) della pony car americana. Equipaggiata con l'evoluzione del motore Coyote V8 aspirato da 5,0 litri, genera una potenza di 500 CV, configurandosi come il modello non-Shelby più potente della gamma. La Dark Horse adotta bielle derivate dalla GT500, un sistema di aspirazione a doppio corpo farfallato e calibrazioni specifiche per l'uso in pista, accompagnate da modifiche aerodinamiche mirate al raffreddamento e alla deportanza.
