The McLaren MP4/2C competed in the 1986 Formula 1 World Championship under the technical direction of John Barnard, becoming one of the most successful single-seaters of the turbo era thanks to its all-carbon-fiber monocoque chassis. The actual race car was equipped with the Porsche TAG Turbo TTE PO1 engine, a 1.5-liter twin-turbo V6 capable of producing over 850 hp in race configuration and up to 1,200 hp during qualifying sessions. In the specification for the British Grand Prix held at the Brands Hatch circuit, Finnish driver Keke Rosberg secured pole position, stopping the clock at 1:06.961, demonstrating the overall mechanical efficiency of the technical package.
The miniature produced by Minichamps in 1:43 scale faithfully reproduces the aerodynamic setup and specific appendages used at Brands Hatch during the 1986 season. The model is cast in high-density die-cast metal to preserve the smooth panels of the white and orange bodywork.
